Specific objectives of the action pertain to:

(1) Addressing housing needs of IDPs and returnees (for at least 45 families).

(2) Improving self-reliance and living standard through economic strengthening of IDPs and returnees (trainings for self-employment for at least 30 individuals, economic packages (tool, equipment) for at least 10 individuals, and professional mentoring program for at least 20 individuals).

The action on one hand aims to contribute to resolving housing needs of the targeted population through provision of building material packages, and on the other, to facilitate their economic empowerment through provision of relevant education/training programs and economic support packages for starting up or extending their business activities, and through professional mentoring support measures.

One aim is to provide building material packages for at least 45 families. Through provision of building material, the project will support IDPs and returnees, who due to a lack of financial means live in inadequate accommodation, to improve their housing situation and/or living conditions.

Another aim is to organize training programs for business start-ups for 30 IDPs and returnees and to facilitate their economic empowerment through provision of practical support. The action in this part is geared toward contributing to increased opportunities and levels of employment, greater integration and standards of living of the targeted population. Here the project directly tackles the issue of unemployment of IDPs and returnees living in the municipality of Zvezdara and aims to reduce their dependency on social services. This will also contribute to their self-reliance, independence and better social integration.

Economic support packages consisting of tools and/or equipment for business start-ups or further development of existing business will be provided for at least 10 IDPs and returnees. Professional mentoring will also be offered for business start-ups and further development of existing businesses for at least 20 self-employed IDPs and returnees.

The recipients of the subsidized building material packages and the beneficiaries of the training/education modules for economic strengthening will all be better integrated into the local community, establish stronger bonds with their neighbors and other community members. This will generally contribute to a greater social inclusion, psycho-social status and the quality of life of IDPs and returnees in Zvezdara Municipality and the City of Belgrade.
